Are you stumbling and bumping into life’s challenges with no clear vision for what lies ahead? One morning, I was late for a 5:30 a.m. meeting. As I rushed out of our bedroom and down the hallway, I bypassed the light switch, choosing to walk in the dark. I reached out with my hand to feel the fourth square wood column where I would make my turn for the kitchen and then the garage when, all of a sudden, bam! I had felt the third column and walked right into the fourth. With my head in my hand, I stumbled into the closest bathroom, and, you guessed it, I turned on the light. I peeked in the mirror only to see blood gushing from my forehead. The corner of the column had split my skin wide open. A trip to the emergency room for five stitches and a friend who keeled over laughing when I called him to describe my reason for being late to our appointment humbled me immensely and taught me a valuable lesson: Walk in the light.
In our world filled with darkness, God is Light: “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5). God desires that each of us would allow Him to illuminate our world. He does so when we simply flip the switch and choose to surrender our hearts totally to Him, so we can avoid the enemy’s obstacles and see clearly with our eyes to walk in His vision for our lives.
Flip the switch and walk in the Light.
