God has designed every encounter with another person to be a three-way call. When we connect with God and then connect with others, they connect with God. All of this occurs through the power of the Holy Spirit moving through us, so everyone experiences the eternal and abundant life of Christ (1 John 1:1-3). This completes the flow of God’s circuit design: “We write this to make our joy completed” (1 John 1:4).
Make a list of those around you who have not fully surrendered their lives to Christ. Then pray daily that God will use you to bring them into fellowship with Him. Make your muscles move with your prayers by asking them four simple questions to connect with their spiritual hearts:
“What is your church or spiritual background?”
“Will you please tell me your story?”
“Where is God in all that for you?”
“In terms of the God-thing, would you describe yourself as skeptic, seeker, or surrendered?”
God will use you to connect them with Christ when the Holy Spirit prompts you to ask, “Would you like to draw a line in the sand, put a stake in the ground, and fully surrender your heart and life to Christ as Savior and Lord?” You can follow an affirmative answer with a request to pray this prayer to God: “I can’t. You can. I can’t free myself from the penalty of my sin. In Christ, You can. I can’t free myself from the power of my sin. In Christ, You can. I fully surrender my heart and life to You as Savior to free me from the penalty and Lord to free me from the power of my sin. Please forgive and restore me.”
When you are intentional about every encounter becoming a three-way call, God will bring joy to your life for following His design. Whereas, pride causes static on the line, humility toward Christ and others offers a clear connection.
