The Artist imagined as He peered at the blank canvas He had stretched and prepared for His unparalleled work. He brought red, yellow, and blue, stirring them to create orange, purple, and green. As His finger spread the colors on His paint board to test their capabilities, red began to speak, “I think the entire canvas should be red!” Yellow overheard the audacity of his primary counterpart and shouted, “The painting would be ideal if it were all yellow!” Not to be left out of the debate, blue screamed, “Make it all blue!” Orange, purple, and green chimed in unison, advocating their cause for the painting to be their sole color.
The Artist saw the pride in the colors and replied, “Red, I have great plans for you. You will color the rose, shade the maple leaf, and be the base coat of blood that will provide life.” To yellow, the Artist said, “I want you and orange to color the sun as you provide light and heat that will illuminate and warm the entire painting.” Staring at blue, He softly spoke, “With you, I want to paint the sky, which will reflect upon all the waters in different hues. Purple will paint the majestic mountains and cover the night.” His focus shifted to green, “You will color the grass, the leaves, and the wide array of plants as you comfort the eyes that gaze upon you.” To all the colors, the Artist imparted, “Your similarities comprise the coherence of the painting, and your differences demonstrate the contrast that makes each of you glow into a collective masterpiece. When you give yourselves to my design, you will truly come alive in the harmony of my artwork.”
The Artist inhaled deeply and slowly exhaled, “Since you the created failed to convince Me The Creator that the painting was all about you, I have forgiven your transgression and have provided a way for you to impact all who see. It’s my Brush. When you yield to His saving creativity, He will reveal the ultimate meaning and purpose in our masterpiece. It is self-sacrificial love. The more you give, the more you receive.” The colors saw the truth and justice of the Artist’s words, recognizing their unique contributions to the canvas. In response, they surrendered to the Brush who directed them, “Come on, let’s go color our world!”
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2:10 NLT).
