Does your life ever feel out of control? Do you rush from one task to the next, attempting to make some sense of your journey through life? Unfortunately, we often make foolish choices to run our lives apart from God, the one who gave us the desire for control to serve Him by serving others (Genesis 1:28).
Wisdom satisfies our desire for control in its power. Solomon noted, “A wise man has great power, and a man of knowledge increases strength” (Proverbs 24:5). The Hebrew word for knowledge connotes intimacy with God that leads to sound relationships with others. Wisdom and control are intertwined: “A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control” (Proverbs 29:11). Wisdom helps us control ourselves.
However, we will never experience true control, unless we surrender it to the Restorer who is both the power of God and the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:24). He then fills us with His Spirit who empowers us with self-control (Galatians 5:23).
Today, surrender your desire for control to Christ. Ask Him to be Lord of your life, including every task and every relationship. He will make you new again.
