Are you insecure? Before you answer that, take this short quiz.
Do you ever worry?
Do you struggle with criticism?
Are you disappointed that nothing seems to last or stay new?
Do you attempt to reconcile conflict without asking for God’s help?
Do you have a fear of being misunderstood?
Do you constantly seek the acceptance and approval of others?
If you answered, “Yes” to more than one of these questions, you might be insecure.
We all search for security. At creation, God provided man with everything he needed, making him secure (Genesis 1:29-30). However, since the first sin of pride, man has been seeking security apart from God via accomplishment, money, or even religion. The result is insecurity that resides in each one of us.
Our continued pursuit of security apart from God leaves us dissatisfied (Proverbs 27:24). When we search for security, we look for something that is always true. Unless we find wisdom and truth, we will never be satisfied.
Jesus Christ is both the wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:24) and the truth of God (John 14:6). He frees us from worry (1 Peter 5:7). He heals our criticism (1 Peter 2:24). He makes us new (2 Corinthians 5:17). He gives us wisdom to reconcile our conflict (2 Corinthians 5:18). He gives us understanding (1 John 5:20). He accepts us (Romans 15:7).
You see, our search is right, but it’s often in the wrong place.
Today, seek true security in Christ, the wisdom and truth of God. Humble your heart to Him, the solution to your search.
