Our emotions represent the spiritual heart chamber of our feelings. These are the multiple reflectors of the light in us. A simple way to categorize our feelings is: mad, sad, glad or afraid. In order to fully surrender our hearts to the Father, we must feel like it. We must want to bend our knees to His will. This is a desire that includes an emotive reflection.
Jesus surrendered His emotions to the Father. While being crucified with criminals as Roman soldiers divided up His clothes by casting lots, Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34). Peter, who witnessed this said, “When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly” (1 Peter 2:23). Entrust literally means “to hand over.” Hand over your emotions to God who will restore you to authenticity.
